The Chat with AI interface lets you ask questions about your investment data in plain English and get instant, data-backed answers.

Opening the Chat

Click Chat with AI in the left navigation. The chat interface opens as a full-screen panel.

Asking Questions

Type your question in the input box at the bottom and press Enter or click Send.

Example Questions

Portfolio Questions:

• "What is the total value of the Smith Family Office portfolio?"
• "Which of my portfolios has the highest equity allocation?"
• "How has the Jones portfolio performed year to date?"
• "What are the top 5 holdings across all my portfolios?"

Performance Questions:

• "Which portfolios have underperformed their benchmark this quarter?"
• "What was the best performing asset class last month?"
• "Show me the performance of UK equities in the Henderson portfolio over the last 6 months."

Data Questions:

• "Are there any missing prices today?"
• "When was the last data refresh for the Barclays feed?"
• "Which portfolios haven't been valued in the last 5 days?"

Meeting Preparation:

Understanding Responses

Point AI responses include:

• The answer — in plain language
• Data citations — references to the specific data points used
• Caveats — any limitations or assumptions in the answer
• Follow-up suggestions — related questions you might want to ask

Data Citations

Every factual statement in a Point AI response is backed by a citation. Click the citation link to see the underlying data in Point's analytics.

Conversation History

Your conversation history is saved automatically. To access previous conversations:

1. Click the History icon (clock icon, top right of the chat panel)
2. Select a previous conversation to continue it

Sharing AI Responses

To share an AI response with a colleague:

1. Click the Share icon on any response
2. Choose Copy Link or Send by Email
3. The recipient will see the response (they must have Point access to view the underlying data)

Limitations

Point AI is powerful but has some limitations to be aware of:

Limitation	Details
Data currency	AI responses are based on the most recently refreshed data. If a refresh job hasn't run, the data may be slightly stale.
Complex calculations	For highly complex custom calculations, use the Live Analytics module directly.
Forward-looking statements	Point AI does not make predictions or forecasts — it only describes historical and current data.
Unstructured data	Point AI works with structured investment data. It cannot analyse documents, emails, or other unstructured content.
