Exchange Rates

The Exchange Rates module manages the foreign exchange rates used throughout Point for portfolio valuation, performance calculation, and reporting.

Why Exchange Rates Matter

Every portfolio has a base currency. When a portfolio holds securities in other currencies, Point uses FX rates to convert those values into the base currency. Accurate, up-to-date FX rates are essential for:

  • Correct portfolio valuations
  • Accurate performance calculations
  • Consistent reporting across currencies

Viewing Exchange Rates

Navigate to Exchange Rate in the left sidebar.

The exchange rate table shows:

All overrides are logged for audit purposes.

Historical Rates

To view historical rates for a currency pair:

  1. Select the currency pair from the dropdown
  2. Choose a date range
  3. The chart and table will show the rate history

Missing Rates

If Point cannot find a rate for a required currency pair on a given date, it will flag a Missing FX Rate exception in Data Quality. This will prevent the affected portfolios from being valued on that date.

To resolve:

  1. Go to Data Quality → Exceptions
  2. Filter by Missing FX Rate
  3. Enter the missing rate manually or investigate the feed issue
