Resolving an Exception

Step 1: Understand the Exception

Click on an exception to see:

  • What is the issue
  • Where it affects (which portfolios/securities)
  • When it was first detected
  • Impact — what will be wrong if this isn't resolved

Step 2: Take Action

Each exception type has a recommended resolution path:

Missing Price:

  1. Check if the price feed is working (see Refresh Jobs)
  2. If the feed is working but the price is genuinely unavailable, enter it manually (see Prices)

Missing FX Rate:

  1. Check the FX rate feed
  2. Enter the rate manually if needed (see Exchange Rates)

Reconciliation Break:

  1. Review the break detail
  2. Determine if it's a timing difference or a genuine error
  3. Correct the data in Point or add an explanation

Missing Attribute:

  1. Open the security
  2. Add the missing attribute value

Step 3: Mark as Resolved

Once you've fixed the underlying issue:

  1. Click Mark as Resolved
  2. Add a resolution note explaining what you did
  3. The exception will move to the Resolved tab

Suppressing an Exception

Some exceptions may be expected and not actionable (e.g., a security that genuinely has no price because it's been delisted). You can suppress these:

  1. Click on the exception
  2. Click Suppress
  3. Select a reason and optionally set an expiry date for the suppression
  4. Click Confirm

Suppressed exceptions are hidden from the main list but remain visible in the Suppressed tab for audit purposes.

Exception Notifications

You can configure email notifications for new exceptions:

  1. Go to your User Profile (top right)
  2. Click Notification Settings
  3. Enable notifications for the exception types and priorities you want to be alerted about
  4. Set the notification frequency (Immediate, Daily Digest, Weekly Digest)
