Security Attributes

Security Attributes are the descriptive metadata that define each security. Point provides a rich set of standard attributes and allows you to define custom attributes for your specific needs.

Instrument Details

CurrencyThe native currency of the security

IssuerThe entity that issued the security
Maturity DateFor fixed income: the maturity date

Dividend YieldFor equities: the current dividend yield

Custom Attributes

Point allows you to define custom attributes for your organisation's specific needs.

Creating a Custom Attribute

  1. Go to Securities → Security Attributes
  2. Click + Add Custom Attribute
  3. Fill in the attribute definition:

Attribute NameA clear, descriptive name (e.g., "ESG Rating")
Attribute CodeA short code for the attribute (e.g., ESG_RATING)
Data TypeText, Number, Date, Boolean, or Dropdown
Dropdown OptionsIf type is Dropdown, define the allowed values
RequiredWhether this attribute must be set for all securities
Applies ToWhich asset classes this attribute applies to
  1. Click Save Attribute

Editing Custom Attribute Values

Once a custom attribute is defined, you can set its value for individual securities:

  1. Open the security detail view
  2. Go to the Attributes tab
  3. Find the custom attribute and click Edit
  4. Enter the value and click Save

Bulk Editing Attributes

For updating attributes across many securities at once:

  1. Go to Securities → Security Attributes
  2. Click Bulk Edit
  3. Download the Excel template
  4. Fill in the attribute values
  5. Upload the completed template
  6. Review the preview and click Apply Changes

Attribute History

Point maintains a full history of attribute changes. To view the history for a specific attribute:

  1. Open the security detail view
  2. Go to the Attributes tab
  3. Click the History icon next to any attribute
  4. The history panel shows all previous values with dates and the user who made each change
